Goniastrea spp. are robust, large polyp stony (LPS) corals known for their distinctive, often colourful corallites and solid skeletal structure. This premium frag is cultured and grown under optimal conditions to ensure healthy, vibrant specimens suitable for marine reef aquariums.
Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended, such as LED or T5 fixtures providing a PAR range of approximately 100-200 µmol/m²/s. Avoid intense direct light to prevent bleaching.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal to keep the coral clean and promote gas exchange without causing tissue damage.
Placement: Position the frag on stable rockwork in the middle to lower regions of the tank, allowing adequate space from neighbouring corals to prevent aggression and ensure healthy growth.
Care Level: Suitable for intermediate aquarists familiar with LPS coral husbandry. Maintain stable water parameters and regular feeding for optimal health.
Feeding: While Goniastrea spp. can derive nutrition from photosynthesis via their symbiotic zooxanthellae, supplemental feeding with planktonic foods such as phytoplankton, zooplankton, or specialised coral foods 1-2 times per week can enhance growth and colour.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing from other corals to avoid stinging or overgrowth. Compatible with most reef-safe fish and invertebrates.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature 24-27°C, salinity 1.023-1.025, pH 8.1-8.4, and low nutrient levels.
