Genicanthus lamarck, commonly known as Lamarck’s Angelfish, is a beautifully patterned marine fish prized for its peaceful temperament and striking appearance. Available as a pair in various sizes, these angelfish are a fantastic addition to mature reef aquariums.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced. Lamarck’s Angelfish require stable water conditions and a well-established tank.
Temperament: Generally peaceful and suitable for community reef tanks. They may show mild territorial behaviour towards conspecifics but are compatible with most other non-aggressive species.
Diet: Omnivorous. Provide a varied diet including high-quality marine angelfish pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and marine algae. Supplement with sponge-based foods to mimic natural feeding habits.
Minimum Tank Size: 180 litres (approximately 50 gallons) or larger to provide ample swimming space and territory.
Reef Compatibility: Yes, this species is reef safe and can be kept with corals and invertebrates without risk.
Lighting and Water Flow: Standard reef aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are suitable. Ensure good water quality with stable parameters.
Placement: Mid to upper levels of the aquarium where they can swim freely and graze on algae and small invertebrates.
Origin: Indo-Pacific region.
