Euphyllia divisa, commonly known as the Frogspawn coral, is a stunning addition to any marine reef aquarium. This premium small specimen features vibrant green tentacles that provide a striking display under moderate lighting.
Lighting: Euphyllia divisa thrives under moderate lighting conditions. LED or T5 lighting systems that provide a PAR range of approximately 50-150 are ideal to maintain vibrant colours and healthy polyp extension.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow is recommended to gently sway the coral’s tentacles without causing tissue damage. Avoid strong direct currents which can stress the coral.
Placement: Position this coral in a location where it has ample space to expand its tentacles without touching neighbouring corals, as it possesses sweeper tentacles that can sting nearby species. Typically, mid to lower areas of the tank are suitable.
Care Level: Suitable for intermediate aquarists with some experience in LPS coral husbandry. Stable water parameters and regular maintenance are essential for optimal health.
Compatibility & Reef Safety: Euphyllia divisa is reef safe with adequate spacing from other corals to prevent aggression. It is generally peaceful towards fish and invertebrates.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, but benefits from occasional feeding of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp or specialised coral foods to promote growth.
Additional Notes: Maintain stable water parameters with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, and calcium levels around 400-450 ppm. Regular water changes and monitoring are recommended.
