Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus, commonly called the Red Margin Fairy Wrasse, is a captivating marine fish known for its striking red-edged fins and vibrant body colours. This large variant reaches up to 12 cm in length, making it a visually impressive addition to a mature reef or fish-only marine aquarium.
Temperament and Compatibility: This species is peaceful and generally compatible with other non-aggressive tankmates. It is best kept singly or in a harem with one male and several females to avoid territorial disputes. Avoid housing with overly aggressive or large predatory fish.
Diet: Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus thrives on a varied diet consisting of high-quality frozen and live foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Supplement with marine flake or pellet foods to ensure balanced nutrition.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 120 litres is recommended to provide ample swimming space and territory. The aquarium should be well-established with plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging.
Water Parameters and Environment: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, pH 8.1-8.4, and moderate water flow. Moderate lighting is suitable, especially if housed in a reef environment.
Reef Compatibility: Reef safe with caution. While generally safe with corals, monitor interactions as wrasses may occasionally nip at small sessile invertebrates.
Origin: Native to the Western Pacific region.
