The Chrysiptera cyanea, or Orange Tail Damselfish, is a popular marine fish prized for its striking blue body contrasted by a bright orange tail. This Tank-Bred variety ensures a healthier, more adaptable specimen for your aquarium.
Temperament and Compatibility: Known for its hardy nature, the Orange Tail Damselfish can be territorial, especially in smaller tanks. It is best housed with other semi-aggressive or robust species. Avoid keeping with very passive or slow-moving fish to reduce stress.
Diet: An omnivorous feeder, Chrysiptera cyanea thrives on a varied diet including high-quality marine flakes, pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, and brine shrimp. Regular feeding 1-2 times daily is recommended.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (approximately 20 gallons) is advised to provide ample swimming space and reduce territorial disputes. Maintain stable water parameters with temperatures between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.020-1.025 SG, and pH 8.1-8.4.
Care Level: Suitable for beginners due to its hardy nature and adaptability, though attention to tank mates and territory is important.
Additional Notes: Being Tank-Bred, these fish are generally more disease-resistant and acclimate well to aquarium life compared to wild-caught specimens.
