The Chaetodontoplus personifer, commonly known as the personifer angelfish, is a stunning species prized for its vibrant colours and distinctive markings. This extra large female specimen is a captivating addition to any mature marine aquarium.
Temperament and Compatibility: This species exhibits a moderate temperament. It can be territorial, especially towards conspecifics or similar angelfish species, so it is best kept singly or in a well-established community with non-aggressive tank mates. Exercise caution when housing with invertebrates or delicate corals, as it may nip at them.
Diet: Omnivorous by nature, the personifer angelfish thrives on a varied diet including marine algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, and specialised angelfish preparations. Regular feeding of meaty and plant-based foods ensures optimal health and vibrant colouration.
Tank Requirements: Due to its size and activity level, a minimum tank size of 250 litres is recommended. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding spots to reduce stress. Stable water parameters and excellent filtration are essential for long-term health.
Reef Compatibility: With caution. While not strictly reef safe, it may coexist with hardy corals if monitored carefully. Avoid housing with small, delicate invertebrates.
Care Level: Intermediate to advanced. Requires stable water conditions and a well-maintained environment.
