Cerithium spp. are a genus of marine snails commonly kept in reef aquariums for their algae grazing and detritus cleaning abilities. Our extra large specimens are robust and highly effective at maintaining substrate cleanliness and controlling nuisance algae.
Care: Cerithium snails thrive in well-established marine tanks with stable water parameters. They prefer moderate water flow and benefit from a varied diet including algae, biofilm, and supplemental feeding with sinking algae wafers or blanched vegetables if natural food is scarce.
Compatibility: These snails are peaceful and reef safe, making them suitable for community reef tanks. They coexist well with other invertebrates and fish without posing any threat.
Placement: Place Cerithium snails on live rock or sandy substrate where they can forage freely. They are nocturnal and may be more active during the evening.
Additional Notes: Avoid copper-based medications as these are harmful to snails. Regular monitoring of water quality and calcium levels will support healthy shell growth.
