Care and Husbandry
- Temperament: Peaceful and shy, best kept with other non-aggressive species.
- Diet: Carnivorous; feeds on small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Offer a varied diet to maintain health.
- Minimum Tank Size: 75 litres (20 gallons) recommended to provide adequate swimming space and stable water parameters.
- Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, pH 8.1-8.4, and salinity 1.023-1.025 SG.
- Lighting and Flow: Moderate lighting and gentle to moderate water flow mimic their natural reef habitat.
- Placement: Provide plenty of hiding spots using live rock or aquarium décor to reduce stress and encourage natural behaviour.
Compatibility
Assessor randalli is reef safe and compatible with peaceful tank mates, including other small basslets, gobies, and blennies. Avoid aggressive or much larger fish that may bully or prey upon them.
