The Amphiprion akallopisos, commonly known as the Skunk Clownfish, is a delightful addition to any marine aquarium. Available as a pair in various sizes, these tank-bred clownfish are known for their distinctive white dorsal stripe and peaceful temperament.
Care Level: Suitable for beginner to intermediate hobbyists, Amphiprion akallopisos are hardy and adapt well to captive conditions.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful, these clownfish can be kept with other non-aggressive species. They may show territorial behaviour towards conspecifics or similar clownfish species, so housing a bonded pair is recommended. They are reef safe with caution, as they may occasionally nip at anemones or corals.
Diet: Omnivorous by nature, they thrive on a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood.
Minimum Tank Size: A minimum of 75 litres (20 gallons) is advised to provide ample swimming space and territory.
Lighting and Water Flow: Standard marine aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are suitable for this species.
Placement: They often form symbiotic relationships with host anemones such as Heteractis magnifica or Stichodactyla species but will also thrive without an anemone in a well-established reef tank.
Origin: Indian Ocean, primarily around Madagascar and the East African coast.
Maximum Size: Typically grows up to 10 cm (4 inches) in length.
