Euphyllia paraancora (Yellow-Gold) is a striking large polyp stony (LPS) coral prized for its vibrant yellow-gold tentacles and unique branching structure. This medium-sized specimen adds dynamic movement and colour to mature reef aquariums.
Lighting Requirements: Moderate lighting is recommended to maintain optimal health and vibrant coloration. LED or T5 lighting systems with a PAR range of 50-150 are suitable.
Water Flow: Euphyllia paraancora thrives under moderate, indirect water flow. Avoid strong currents that can cause tissue damage or inhibit polyp extension.
Placement: Position this coral in the middle to lower regions of the aquarium to balance light exposure and flow. Ensure adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggressive interactions, as Euphyllia species possess sweeper tentacles.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, but benefits from occasional feeding of meaty foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, or specialised coral foods to promote growth and vibrancy.
Compatibility & Reef Safety: Reef safe with adequate spacing. Exercise caution when placing near other corals due to potential aggression.
Care Level: Moderate – suitable for aquarists with some experience in maintaining LPS corals.
Additional Notes: Maintain stable water parameters with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, and stable alkalinity and calcium levels to support skeletal growth.
