Caesio teres, commonly known as the Blue and Yellow Fusilier Snapper, is a striking marine fish prized for its vibrant blue and yellow colouring and active schooling behaviour. This small variant is suitable for experienced hobbyists with adequately sized marine aquariums.
Temperament and Compatibility: Caesio teres is generally peaceful and best kept in groups of five or more to mimic natural schooling behaviour. It coexists well with other non-aggressive fish species but may become shy if housed with overly territorial tank mates.
Diet: This species is omnivorous, feeding primarily on plankton and small invertebrates in the wild. In captivity, provide a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood to ensure optimal health.
Tank Requirements: Due to their active swimming nature, a minimum tank size of 180 litres (approximately 50 gallons) is recommended. Provide ample open swimming space with moderate water flow and stable water parameters.
Reef Compatibility: Reef safe with caution. While Caesio teres generally does not harm corals, care should be taken as they may nip at small invertebrates or delicate coral polyps.
Care Level: Moderate. Requires stable water quality, a balanced diet, and appropriate tank mates.
