Care Level: Moderate to advanced. This species requires stable water parameters and a well-maintained tank.

Temperament: Generally peaceful but may show mild territorial behaviour. Best kept with similarly sized, non-aggressive fish.

Diet: Carnivorous. Feed a varied diet including high-quality frozen or live meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Supplement with pellet or flake foods formulated for carnivorous marine fish.

Minimum Tank Size: 180 litres (approximately 50 gallons) or larger to provide ample swimming space.

Lighting Requirements: Standard marine aquarium lighting is sufficient; no special lighting needs.

Water Flow: Moderate water flow mimicking natural reef currents is ideal.

Placement: Mid to lower levels of the aquarium. Provide ample open swimming areas with some rockwork for shelter.

Origin: Western Atlantic Ocean, including the Caribbean Sea.

Maximum Size: Up to 20 cm (approximately 8 inches) in captivity.

Reef Safe: With Caution. May prey on small invertebrates and fish; not recommended for delicate reef tanks.

This species thrives in a well-established marine aquarium with stable water quality and regular feeding. Avoid aggressive tank mates and overcrowding to reduce stress and promote natural behaviour.
