Elacatinus figaro, commonly referred to as the Figaro Goby, is a small, peaceful marine fish prized for its cleaning behaviour and compatibility within reef aquariums. This tank-bred specimen is available in various sizes, making it suitable for hobbyists at different experience levels.
Temperament and Compatibility: The Figaro Goby is known for its calm and non-aggressive nature, making it an excellent addition to community reef tanks. It coexists well with other peaceful fish and invertebrates but should not be housed with overly aggressive species.
Diet: This species thrives on a varied diet including finely chopped meaty foods, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality marine flakes or pellets. Regular feeding supports their health and vibrant coloration.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 60 litres (approximately 15 gallons) is recommended to provide adequate swimming space and territory. Stable water parameters with temperatures between 24-27°C, salinity of 1.023-1.025 SG, and pH 8.1-8.4 are ideal.
Reef Compatibility: Elacatinus figaro is reef safe and can be kept with corals and sessile invertebrates without risk of harm.
Care Level: Suitable for aquarists with beginner to intermediate experience, provided stable water conditions and proper diet are maintained.
