Amphiprion akindynos, commonly known as the Barrier Reef Clownfish, is a captivating species native to Australian waters. This pair is available in various sizes, making them suitable for both novice and experienced marine aquarists.
Temperament and Compatibility: Amphiprion akindynos are generally peaceful and can be kept with other non-aggressive fish. They may show territorial behaviour towards other clownfish, so it is best to keep only one pair per tank unless the aquarium is very large.
Diet: These clownfish thrive on a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, flakes, frozen mysis shrimp, and brine shrimp. Feeding should be done 1-2 times daily to maintain optimal health.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres is recommended to provide ample swimming space and territory. Stable water parameters with temperatures between 24-27°C, salinity of 1.023-1.025 SG, and pH 8.1-8.4 are ideal.
Reef Compatibility: Amphiprion akindynos are generally considered reef safe with caution. They may occasionally nip at anemones or corals, so monitoring is advised when introducing them to reef tanks.
Care Level: Moderate. Suitable for aquarists with some marine experience.
Origin: Australia
Maximum Size: Up to 12 cm (4.7 inches)
