Care Level: Moderate. This species requires stable water parameters and a suitably sized aquarium to thrive.
Temperament and Compatibility: Dendrochirus biocellatus is generally peaceful towards similarly sized tankmates but can be territorial and predatory towards smaller fish and invertebrates. It is best housed with robust, non-aggressive species and avoided in reef tanks with small ornamental invertebrates.
Diet: Carnivorous. Feed a varied diet of meaty foods such as live or frozen mysis shrimp, krill, and small crustaceans. Regular feeding 2-3 times per week is recommended.
Minimum Tank Size: A minimum of 75 litres (20 gallons) is advised to provide adequate swimming space and territory.
Lighting and Water Flow: Moderate lighting and gentle to moderate water flow replicate natural reef conditions and help maintain fish health.
Placement: Provide plenty of live rock for hiding places and ambush points. This species appreciates caves and crevices to retreat to.
