Genicanthus lamarck, commonly known as Lamarck’s Angelfish, is a captivating marine species prized for its elegant colouration and peaceful nature. The male specimens display vibrant patterns and are a striking addition to any mature marine aquarium.
Temperament and Compatibility: This species is generally peaceful and best kept with other non-aggressive tank mates. It can be housed in reef aquariums with caution, as it may nip at coral polyps if not well-fed or stressed.
Diet: Genicanthus lamarck males are omnivorous, thriving on a varied diet including marine algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, and high-quality prepared foods formulated for angelfish.
Tank Requirements: Due to their active swimming behaviour and adult size, a minimum tank size of 180 litres (approximately 50 gallons) is recommended. Provide plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding places.
Water Parameters and Care: Maintain stable marine conditions with a temperature range of 24-27°C, salinity of 1.020-1.025 SG, and pH between 8.1 and 8.4. Moderate water flow is preferred to simulate their natural reef environment.
Origin: Native to the Indo-Pacific region, particularly around coral reefs.
Available in various sizes, these males are suitable for aquarists seeking a peaceful, visually striking angelfish with moderate care requirements.
