Chaetodontoplus meredithi, commonly known as Meredithi’s Angelfish, is a visually stunning marine species prized for its vibrant colours and unique patterning. This listing features a male specimen in a small to medium size range, perfect for aquarists with some experience in marine fish husbandry.
Temperament and Compatibility: This species is semi-aggressive and can be territorial, especially towards conspecifics or similar angelfish species. It is best housed singly or as a mated pair in a suitably sized aquarium. Compatibility with peaceful community fish is generally good, but care should be taken when mixing with other semi-aggressive or highly territorial species.
Diet: Chaetodontoplus meredithi is omnivorous and thrives on a varied diet including high-quality marine angelfish pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and marine algae. Supplementing with sponge-based foods is beneficial to mimic natural feeding habits.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 180 litres (approximately 50 gallons) is recommended to provide ample swimming space and territory. Stable water parameters with regular maintenance are essential for health and longevity.
Reef Compatibility: With caution. While this species may be kept in reef aquaria, it has a tendency to nip at sessile invertebrates such as sponges and tunicates. Monitor closely if housed with sensitive corals or invertebrates.
Water Conditions: Maintain temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, and pH 8.1-8.4. Moderate water flow and good filtration are important to replicate natural conditions.
Origin: Not Provided.
Maximum Size: Up to 20 cm (8 inches) in captivity.
