The Siganus vulpinus, or Foxface Rabbitfish, is a visually stunning species prized for its vibrant yellow body contrasted with black markings. This extra large specimen is suitable for marine aquariums with ample space and experienced keepers.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful, the Foxface Rabbitfish coexists well with most community fish but may become territorial with conspecifics or similar species. It is reef safe with caution, as it may nip at soft corals and clam mantles.
Diet: Primarily herbivorous, this species thrives on a diet rich in marine algae and seaweed. Supplement with quality prepared foods such as spirulina flakes, mysis shrimp, and vegetable-based pellets to ensure balanced nutrition.
Tank Requirements: Due to its size and active swimming behaviour, a minimum tank size of 180 litres (approximately 50 gallons) is recommended. Provide plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding places to reduce stress.
Care Level: Moderate. Requires stable water parameters and a well-established aquarium environment.
Water Parameters: Maintain temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.020-1.025 SG, and pH 8.1-8.4.
Adding this extra large Foxface Rabbitfish will enhance your marine aquarium with its unique appearance and beneficial algae control.
