The Chrysiptera parasema, commonly known as the Yellowtail Blue Damselfish, is a vibrant and resilient addition to any marine aquarium. Our stock is tank-bred, ensuring healthier fish with better adaptation to captive conditions and reduced impact on wild populations.
Available in various sizes, these damsels are suitable for both novice and experienced hobbyists. Their striking electric blue bodies contrasted with bright yellow tails make them a visually appealing choice for reef or fish-only setups.
Care and Husbandry
- Temperament: Generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially in smaller tanks or when kept with other damsels.
- Compatibility: Compatible with a wide range of peaceful to semi-aggressive marine species. Avoid housing with overly aggressive fish.
- Diet: Omnivorous. Accepts a variety of foods including high-quality flakes, pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, and marine algae.
- Minimum Tank Size: A minimum of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide adequate swimming space and reduce territorial behaviour.
- Lighting and Water Flow: Standard reef aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are suitable.
- Placement: Provide plenty of live rock or hiding places to establish territories and reduce stress.
Additional Information
Tank-bred specimens typically exhibit greater disease resistance and acclimate more readily to aquarium life than wild-caught counterparts. Their hardy nature makes them an excellent choice for those new to marine fishkeeping.
