Clepticus parrae, commonly known as the Medium Wrasse, is a visually striking fish prized for its vibrant colours and active swimming behaviour. This species is suitable for experienced hobbyists who can provide a stable marine environment.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful, Clepticus parrae coexists well with other non-aggressive tank mates. It is best kept in a community reef or fish-only aquarium with similarly sized or larger species to avoid stress or bullying.
Diet: This wrasse is carnivorous and thrives on a varied diet including high-quality frozen or live foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Supplement with marine pellets or flakes to ensure balanced nutrition.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 150 litres (approximately 40 US gallons) is recommended to provide ample swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters with temperatures between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, and good water quality.
Habitat and Placement: Provide plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging, as well as open swimming areas. Moderate water flow and lighting are suitable, replicating natural reef conditions.
Reef Compatibility: Clepticus parrae is generally reef safe but should be monitored as some wrasses may nip at small invertebrates.
