Originating from tropical Indo-Pacific waters, Anampses lineatus thrives in aquariums that mimic its natural habitat with plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter. It is best kept in tanks of at least 120 litres to allow sufficient swimming space and to reduce territorial disputes.

Dietarily, this wrasse is carnivorous and benefits from a varied diet including meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and specialised marine pellets. Regular feeding supports its vibrant colours and overall health.

Temperament is generally peaceful, making it compatible with other non-aggressive fish species. However, care should be taken when housing with very small or timid fish, as wrasses can be moderately active and curious.

Reef compatibility is with caution, as Anampses lineatus may occasionally nip at sessile invertebrates or small crustaceans. Providing ample natural food sources and hiding spots helps mitigate this behaviour.
