Liopropoma lunulatum is a captivating basslet prized for its vivid colouration and relatively peaceful nature. This species is best suited to experienced marine aquarists due to its specific care requirements and shy temperament.
In the aquarium, Liopropoma lunulatum thrives in mature reef or rocky systems with plenty of crevices and caves to retreat into. Providing ample hiding spots helps reduce stress and encourages natural behaviour.
Diet: This carnivorous fish benefits from a varied diet including high-quality frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding 2-3 times daily supports optimal health.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful but territorial towards conspecifics and similar species. Best kept singly or as a mated pair in a community reef tank with non-aggressive tankmates.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 120 litres (approximately 30 gallons) is recommended to provide sufficient space and stable water conditions. Maintain stable parameters with moderate water flow and lighting suitable for reef environments.
Regular water changes and high water quality are essential to keep this species healthy. Avoid housing with large predatory fish that may view it as prey.
