Temperament: Generally peaceful but can be territorial towards conspecifics or similar-shaped fish. It coexists well with other non-aggressive species.
Diet: Omnivorous. Requires a varied diet including marine algae, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality prepared foods. Supplementation with sponge-based foods is beneficial to mimic natural feeding habits.
Minimum Tank Size: 120 litres (approximately 30 gallons) to provide ample swimming space and stable water conditions.
Lighting and Water Flow: Moderate lighting and moderate water flow are recommended to replicate natural reef environments.
Placement: Mid to upper levels of the aquarium, with plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter.
Reef Compatibility: With Caution. While generally reef safe, they may nip at certain sessile invertebrates or coral polyps, so monitoring is advised.
Origin: Indo-Pacific region.
Maximum Size: Up to 20 cm (8 inches) in length.
Providing stable water parameters and a stress-free environment will help ensure the health and longevity of your Heniochus chrysostomus.
