Sinularia spp. (Yellow-Green) is a medium-sized soft leather coral prized for its bright yellow-green colouration and flowing polyps. This genus is popular among marine aquarists for its dynamic movement and relatively hardy nature.
Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended, such as LED or T5 fixtures providing a PAR range of 50-150. Avoid intense direct lighting to prevent bleaching.
Water Flow: Moderate to strong, indirect water movement is ideal to ensure polyp extension and prevent detritus accumulation.
Placement: Position this coral in a mid to upper section of the tank where it can receive adequate light and flow. Maintain sufficient spacing from neighbouring corals to avoid aggressive interactions, as Sinularia spp. can produce chemical defences.
Care Level: Suitable for aquarists with some experience in soft coral husbandry. Regular water quality monitoring and stable parameters are essential.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing. Avoid placing near highly aggressive corals or those sensitive to allelopathic compounds.
Feeding: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae but will benefit from occasional supplementation with planktonic foods or coral-specific liquid feeds.
Additional Notes: Sinularia spp. may release chemical compounds into the water; regular water changes and activated carbon filtration can help maintain water quality.
