Cladiella spp. (O1 Colt) is a small soft leather coral prized for its robust nature and attractive appearance in marine reef aquariums. As a member of the leather coral family, it features a fleshy, finger-like structure that adds texture and movement to your reef display.
Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended to support healthy growth without causing stress. LED or T5 lighting systems that provide balanced PAR levels work well.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal. Too strong a current can cause tissue damage, while too little flow may lead to detritus accumulation.
Placement: Position the coral in a location with adequate space from neighbouring corals to prevent aggressive interactions. Cladiella spp. can extend sweeper tentacles that may sting nearby corals, so maintain at least 5–10 cm clearance.
Care Level: Suitable for aquarists with beginner to intermediate experience. This coral is relatively hardy but benefits from stable water parameters and regular monitoring.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, but will also benefit from occasional feeding of fine particulate foods such as phytoplankton or coral-specific liquid supplements.
Reef Compatibility: Yes, with adequate spacing to avoid coral warfare.
Additional Notes: Regular water changes and maintaining optimal water quality parameters will promote vibrant colouration and growth. Avoid sudden changes in lighting or flow to reduce stress.
