Green Zoanthus spp. are popular soft polyps prized for their vibrant green coloration and ease of care, making them a great addition to both beginner and experienced marine reef aquarists.
These corals thrive under moderate lighting conditions and prefer moderate water flow to ensure optimal health and polyp extension. Placement should be on stable rockwork with adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggressive interactions.
Zoanthus spp. are generally hardy and adaptable, but maintaining stable water parameters is essential for long-term success. They benefit from regular feeding of microplankton or coral-specific liquid foods, although they can also derive nutrition from photosynthesis via their symbiotic zooxanthellae.
Due to their colonial growth form, they can spread over time, so monitoring and controlling their expansion is recommended to maintain reef harmony.
