Care Guidelines

• Lighting: Moderate to high lighting is recommended, ideally using LED or T5 fixtures that support coral photosynthesis without causing bleaching.
• Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow helps maintain coral health by preventing detritus accumulation and promoting gas exchange.
• Placement: Position the coral on stable rockwork in mid to lower sections of the tank, ensuring adequate spacing from aggressive neighbours to prevent stinging or overgrowth.
• Water Parameters: Maintain stable reef conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG, calcium 400-450 ppm, alkalinity 8-12 dKH, and magnesium 1250-1350 ppm.
• Feeding: While primarily photosynthetic, Porites spp. benefit from occasional supplemental feeding with planktonic foods or coral-specific liquid feeds to support growth.

Porites spp. are generally reef safe with adequate spacing, but care should be taken to avoid placing them too close to more aggressive corals. Their robust skeleton and encrusting nature make them a valuable addition to mixed LPS coral collections.
