Overview: The Harlequin Sweetlips (Plectorhinchus chaetodonoides) is a captivating species prized for its unique juvenile markings and graceful swimming behaviour. As it matures, its pattern changes dramatically, making it a fascinating addition to a large marine aquarium.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced. This species requires stable water parameters and a well-maintained environment.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful but can be shy. Best housed with other non-aggressive species. Avoid keeping with very small fish or invertebrates that may be seen as prey.
Diet: Carnivorous. Feed a varied diet including meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, chopped seafood, and specialised marine pellets to ensure optimal health.
Tank Requirements: Minimum tank size of 250 litres recommended to provide ample swimming space. Provide plenty of hiding places and live rock for shelter.
Lighting and Water Flow: Standard marine aquarium lighting is sufficient. Moderate water flow is preferred to mimic natural reef conditions.
