Overview: Pentapodus emeryii, commonly known as a marine snapper, is a visually appealing fish prized for its vibrant colours and graceful swimming behaviour. The Extra Large variant offers a spectacular display for advanced marine aquarium enthusiasts.
Temperament and Compatibility: This species is generally peaceful and can be kept with other non-aggressive tank mates. It is best housed with similarly sized fish to avoid bullying or stress. Avoid keeping with very small or highly territorial species.
Diet: Pentapodus emeryii is carnivorous and thrives on a varied diet including high-quality frozen or live meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Supplement with pellet or flake foods formulated for marine carnivores.
Tank Requirements: Due to its size and active swimming nature, a minimum tank size of 180 litres (approximately 50 gallons) is recommended. Provide ample open swimming space along with some rockwork or coral structures for shelter and resting.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, salinity at 1.023-1.025 specific gravity, pH 8.1-8.4, and moderate water flow.
Reef Compatibility: With Caution. While generally peaceful, Pentapodus emeryii may occasionally nip at small invertebrates or delicate corals, so careful monitoring is advised in reef setups.
Origin: Not Provided.
Maximum Size: Up to 25 cm (10 inches) in captivity.
