Palythoa spp. (Cornbred Nuclear Death) is a cultured soft coral frag prized for its vivid colours and dynamic polyps. This frag is grown under controlled conditions by DJM, ensuring healthy, acclimatised specimens suitable for marine reef tanks.
Care Level: Moderate care is recommended, with stable water parameters and regular monitoring.
Lighting: Moderate to high lighting is ideal to support photosynthesis and vibrant coloration. LED or T5 lighting systems are suitable.
Water Flow: Moderate water flow helps prevent detritus accumulation and promotes polyp extension without causing tissue damage.
Placement: Place the frag on rockwork with sufficient space from neighbouring corals to avoid aggressive interactions. This species can exhibit chemical defences, so spacing is important.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic, but occasional feeding of fine particulate foods such as phytoplankton or coral-specific liquid foods can support growth.
Reef Compatibility: Yes, with adequate spacing from other corals to prevent chemical warfare and overgrowth.
Additional Notes: Handle with caution as some Palythoa species may contain palytoxin. Always use gloves and avoid contact with open wounds.
