Oxypora spp. are visually striking LPS corals belonging to the family Pectiniidae, known for their textured, plate-like growth forms and vibrant colouration. This tiny-sized Tank-Bred specimen offers a unique addition to mature reef aquaria, providing both aesthetic appeal and moderate care requirements.
Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended to maintain vibrant colours without causing stress. LED or T5 lighting systems with a PAR range of approximately 100-150 µmol/m²/s are suitable.
Water Flow: Gentle to moderate water movement is ideal to ensure adequate nutrient exchange while preventing tissue damage. Avoid strong direct currents.
Placement: Position this coral on stable rockwork in the middle to lower regions of the tank, allowing sufficient space from neighbouring corals to prevent aggression or stinging.
Care: Oxypora spp. benefit from stable water parameters typical of reef tanks: temperature 24-26°C, salinity 1.023-1.025, and low nutrient levels. Regular feeding with small meaty foods such as mysis or specialised coral foods can enhance growth and colour.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing; avoid placing near aggressive corals. Suitable for experienced hobbyists familiar with LPS coral husbandry.
