Care and Husbandry: Lysmata amboinensis thrives in well-established marine aquariums with stable water parameters. A minimum tank size of 40 litres is recommended to provide sufficient space and maintain water quality. They prefer moderate water flow and subdued lighting conditions, mimicking their natural reef crevice habitats.

These shrimps are omnivorous scavengers and will readily accept a varied diet including frozen mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and specialised invertebrate pellets. Their natural cleaning behaviour involves removing ectoparasites and dead tissue from fish, making them beneficial tank inhabitants.

Compatibility and Reef Safety: Lysmata amboinensis is peaceful and reef safe, posing no threat to corals or other invertebrates. They coexist well with most fish species, especially those that benefit from their cleaning services. Avoid housing with aggressive or predatory fish that may view them as prey.

Placement: Provide plenty of live rock with crevices and hiding spots to replicate their natural environment and reduce stress. They often set up cleaning stations where fish come to be serviced.
