Lobophyllia spp. (Green) is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its fleshy, lobed appearance and vivid green hues. This extra large specimen makes a striking centrepiece in mature reef aquariums.
Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended to maintain vibrant colouration without causing bleaching. LED or T5 lighting systems with adjustable intensity work well.
Water Flow: Provide low to moderate, indirect water flow to ensure the coral’s delicate tissues are not damaged while promoting healthy gas exchange and nutrient delivery.
Placement: Position this coral on stable rockwork in the lower to middle sections of the tank. Ensure ample space around it to prevent aggressive sweeper tentacles from harming neighbouring corals.
Compatibility: Lobophyllia spp. is generally reef safe with adequate spacing, but caution is advised when placing near other LPS or soft corals due to its potential for aggression.
Feeding: While photosynthetic, this coral benefits from supplemental feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or specialised coral foods 1-2 times per week to support growth and colour.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature 24-27°C, salinity 1.023-1.025, pH 8.1-8.4, and low nutrient levels.
This extra large Lobophyllia spp. is suitable for experienced hobbyists with established reef tanks due to its size and care requirements.
