Lobophyllia spp. (Green) Medium is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its vibrant green hues and distinctive fleshy lobes. This coral adds both colour and texture to mature reef aquariums, making it a popular choice among experienced hobbyists.
Lighting: Moderate to high lighting is recommended to maintain optimal colouration and health. LED or T5 lighting systems with a PAR range of approximately 100-200 are suitable.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal to prevent tissue damage while ensuring adequate nutrient exchange.
Placement: Position this coral on the substrate or lower to middle areas of the rockwork, allowing enough space around it to accommodate its fleshy lobes and prevent aggression towards neighbouring corals.
Care Level: Moderate. While not overly demanding, Lobophyllia spp. requires stable water parameters and consistent maintenance.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, but benefits from supplemental feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp or specialised coral foods 1-2 times weekly.
Compatibility: Reef safe with caution; ensure adequate spacing from other corals to avoid stinging interactions.
Regular water testing and maintaining stable parameters (temperature 24-26°C, salinity 1.023-1.025, pH 8.1-8.4) will promote healthy growth and vibrant colours.
