Goniopora spp. (Pink) is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its delicate, flower-like polyps and vibrant pink hues. Belonging to the Poritidae family, this coral adds both texture and colour to mature reef aquariums.
Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended to maintain healthy growth and vibrant colouration. Avoid intense direct light which may cause bleaching.
Water Flow: Gentle to moderate water flow is ideal to ensure polyps can extend fully without damage. Strong currents may cause tissue retraction or injury.
Placement: Position the coral on stable rockwork in a location with moderate light and flow. Allow adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggressive interactions, as Goniopora can be sensitive to chemical warfare.
Care Level: This species is best suited to intermediate to advanced hobbyists due to its specific care requirements and sensitivity to water quality fluctuations.
Diet: While primarily photosynthetic, Goniopora spp. benefit from supplemental feeding of planktonic foods such as phytoplankton, zooplankton, or specialised coral foods to support polyp extension and growth.
Tank Requirements: Maintain stable water parameters with regular testing and water changes. A minimum tank size of 90 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide a stable environment.
With proper care, this extra large pink Goniopora will flourish, providing a stunning focal point in your reef aquarium.
