Favia spp. (Red) is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its bold red hues and distinctive, rounded corallites. This medium-sized specimen is a beautiful addition to reef aquariums, offering both visual appeal and moderate care demands.

Lighting: Moderate lighting is recommended to maintain vibrant colouration without causing stress. LED or T5 lighting systems with adjustable intensity work well.

Water Flow: Provide moderate, indirect water flow to ensure adequate nutrient delivery while preventing tissue damage.

Placement: Position this coral on stable rockwork with sufficient space around it to avoid aggressive interactions with neighbouring corals. Favia spp. can extend sweeper tentacles, so maintain at least 5–10 cm clearance.

Care Level: Suitable for intermediate aquarists familiar with LPS coral husbandry.

Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, but benefits from occasional feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp or specialised coral foods.
