Euphyllia glabrescens (Rasta) is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral prized for its long, flowing tentacles and vibrant colouration. This large specimen offers a dramatic focal point in mature reef tanks, showcasing the characteristic sweeping tentacles typical of the species.
Lighting: Moderate to high lighting is recommended, ideally using LED or T5 fixtures that support coral growth without causing bleaching. Gradual acclimation to lighting changes is advised to prevent stress.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow is optimal. Strong currents can damage the delicate tentacles, while stagnant water may encourage detritus buildup.
Placement: Position this coral in a location with enough space to accommodate its extended tentacles, ensuring at least 10-15cm clearance from neighbouring corals to prevent aggressive interactions. Mid to lower levels of the aquarium are suitable.
Care Level: Moderate care is required. Stable water parameters, including calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium, are essential for skeletal growth and overall health.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, but benefits from occasional feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp or specialised coral foods to promote vibrant colour and growth.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing. Avoid placing near aggressive corals that may sting or overshadow it.
Additional Notes: Regular monitoring of water quality and gentle handling during placement will ensure longevity and vibrancy of this beautiful Euphyllia glabrescens (Rasta).
