Euphyllia ancora (Two Tone) is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral prized for its distinctive two-tone tentacle colours and elegant, branching structure. This medium to large specimen adds dynamic movement and vibrant hues to mature reef aquariums.
Lighting Requirements: Moderate to high lighting is recommended to maintain optimal health and coloration. LED or T5 lighting systems with a PAR range of 100-250 are suitable.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal to gently sway the tentacles without causing tissue damage. Avoid strong direct currents.
Placement: Position in the middle to lower regions of the tank where lighting and flow conditions meet the coral’s needs. Ensure adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggressive interactions, as Euphyllia ancora can extend sweeper tentacles.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, but benefits from occasional feeding of meaty foods such as brine shrimp or specialised coral foods.
Compatibility: Reef safe with caution; maintain sufficient distance from other corals to avoid stinging. Suitable for experienced hobbyists due to moderate care demands and potential aggression.
Additional Notes: Regular water parameter monitoring is essential. Maintain stable conditions with temperature 24-27°C, salinity 1.023-1.025, and low nutrient levels.
