Cirrhilabrus katherinae, commonly known as Catherine’s Wrasse, is a vibrant and peaceful species highly sought after for reef aquariums. Available as a pair in various sizes, these wrasses are ideal for hobbyists looking to add colour and dynamic movement to their marine tanks.
Temperament and Compatibility: This species is generally peaceful and compatible with other non-aggressive fish. They thrive in community reef tanks but may show mild territorial behaviour towards conspecifics if the tank is undersized.
Diet: Cirrhilabrus katherinae are carnivorous and do best on a varied diet including high-quality frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and specialised pellet or flake foods formulated for carnivorous marine fish.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 120 litres (approximately 30 gallons) is recommended to provide ample swimming space and reduce territorial disputes. The aquarium should be well-established with plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable marine conditions with temperature between 24-27°C, pH 8.1-8.4, and salinity around 1.023-1.025 SG. Moderate water flow and good filtration are essential to keep water quality high.
Reef Compatibility: Cirrhilabrus katherinae is considered reef safe and will not harm corals or invertebrates, making them an excellent choice for reef aquariums.
Adding a pair of these wrasses will enhance the visual appeal of your marine aquarium with their striking colours and active behaviour.
