The Percula Clownfish (Amphiprion percula) is a highly sought-after species for marine aquarium enthusiasts, prized for its striking orange colouration with bold white bands outlined in black. Our DJM Tank-Bred Percula Clownfish are bred under controlled conditions in the UK, ensuring robust health and acclimatisation to captive environments.
Care Level: Suitable for beginner to intermediate hobbyists, these clownfish are hardy and adapt well to aquarium life.
Temperament: Generally peaceful and territorial. They can be kept singly or in pairs, but caution is advised when housing with other clownfish or similar species to avoid aggression.
Diet: Omnivorous. Feed a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and marine flakes to ensure optimal health and vibrant colour.
Minimum Tank Size: A minimum of 75 litres (approximately 20 gallons) is recommended to provide adequate swimming space and stable water parameters.
Reef Safe: Yes. Percula Clownfish are generally reef safe and compatible with corals and invertebrates.
Lighting and Water Flow: Standard marine aquarium lighting and moderate water flow are suitable. Avoid strong currents that may stress the fish.
Placement: Ideal for community reef tanks. They often form symbiotic relationships with host anemones such as Heteractis magnifica or Entacmaea quadricolor, though they will also thrive without anemones.
Origin: DJM Tank-Bred in the UK, ensuring acclimatisation to captive conditions and reducing wild collection impact.
Maximum Size: Typically grows up to 8–9 cm in length.
