The Amphiprion ocellaris Black Snowflake is a captivating variant of the popular Ocellaris clownfish, distinguished by its striking black and white ‘snowflake’ pattern. These tank-bred specimens are bred under controlled conditions, ensuring robust health and adaptability to captive marine aquarium environments.
Temperament and Compatibility: Known for their peaceful and social nature, Black Snowflake clownfish generally coexist well with other non-aggressive fish species. They can be territorial towards conspecifics or similar clownfish species, so it is advisable to keep only one per tank or a compatible mated pair.
Diet: These clownfish are omnivorous and thrive on a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, flakes, frozen mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding 1-2 times daily supports optimal health and vibrant coloration.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide adequate swimming space and territory. Stable water parameters with temperatures between 24-27°C, salinity of 1.020-1.025 SG, and pH 8.1-8.4 are ideal.
Reef Compatibility: This species is reef safe and can be housed comfortably in reef aquariums with corals and invertebrates, provided there is sufficient space and hiding spots.
Additional Care: Providing anemones such as Entacmaea quadricolor (Bubble Tip Anemone) can enhance natural behaviours, though it is not essential. Regular water changes and monitoring water quality will ensure longevity and vitality.
