Entacmaea quadricolor, commonly known as the Bubble Tip Anemone, is a popular choice among marine aquarium enthusiasts due to its vibrant red and green hues and its compatibility with clownfish. This tiny tank-bred specimen is ideal for hobbyists looking to add a splash of colour and natural behaviour to their reef tanks.
Care Level: Moderate care is recommended. Ensure stable water parameters and a mature aquarium environment before introduction.
Feeding: While Entacmaea quadricolor benefits from photosynthesis via its symbiotic zooxanthellae, supplemental feeding with meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or finely chopped seafood 1-2 times per week will promote health and growth.
Compatibility: This anemone is generally reef safe with caution. It can sting nearby corals and invertebrates, so provide adequate space to prevent damage. It is compatible with clownfish species, which often form symbiotic relationships.
Lighting and Water Flow: Moderate to high lighting is preferred to support photosynthesis, ideally provided by LED or T5 aquarium lighting systems. Water flow should be moderate, avoiding direct strong currents that can stress the anemone.
Placement: Place the anemone on live rock or a stable substrate where it can attach securely. It may move to find optimal lighting and flow conditions.
Tank Size: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide sufficient space and stable water conditions.
Origin: Tank-bred in controlled aquaculture facilities, ensuring sustainability and reduced impact on wild populations.
