The Acropora spp. (Green) is a medium-sized Small Polyp Stony (SPS) coral prized for its vivid green coloration and intricate branching structure. This coral is suitable for experienced marine aquarists who maintain stable reef tanks with optimal water parameters.
Lighting Requirements: Acropora spp. thrive under strong, high-intensity lighting such as metal halide, T5, or high-output LED systems. Aim for PAR levels between 250-400 µmol/m²/s to support healthy photosynthesis and vibrant coloration.
Water Flow: Moderate to high water flow is essential to prevent detritus accumulation and to facilitate gas exchange. Randomised turbulent flow is preferred to mimic natural reef conditions and promote polyp extension.
Placement: Position this coral higher in the aquarium to ensure adequate light exposure. Maintain sufficient spacing from neighbouring corals to reduce aggression and allow for growth.
Care Level: This species requires stable water parameters with low nutrient levels, consistent calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium supplementation, and regular monitoring. It is recommended for intermediate to advanced hobbyists.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing. Avoid placing near aggressive corals that may outcompete or damage it.
Additional Notes: Acropora spp. are sensitive to rapid changes in water chemistry and temperature. Maintain temperature between 24-26°C and salinity around 1.025 specific gravity for best results.
