Acropora robusta is a popular small polyp stony (SPS) coral known for its sturdy, robust branches and attractive colouration, making it a desirable addition to mature reef tanks. This medium-sized specimen is suitable for experienced marine aquarists who can provide the stable conditions required for SPS corals.
Lighting: This coral thrives under strong lighting, ideally provided by metal halide, T5, or high-quality LED systems designed for reef aquariums. Intense lighting promotes healthy growth and vibrant colours.
Water Flow: Moderate to high water flow is essential to prevent detritus accumulation and to ensure optimal gas exchange and nutrient delivery. Aim for turbulent, indirect flow rather than direct blasts to avoid tissue damage.
Placement: Position Acropora robusta in the upper to middle regions of the tank where lighting and flow conditions are optimal. Ensure adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to reduce aggression and allow for growth.
Care Level: This species requires stable water parameters, including consistent calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium levels, as well as low nutrient levels. Regular monitoring and maintenance are recommended.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing from other corals. Avoid placing near aggressive or fast-growing species that may overshadow or damage it.
Additional Notes: Acropora robusta benefits from supplemental feeding with coral foods such as phytoplankton or specialised SPS coral feeds, though it primarily relies on photosynthesis.
