Plerogyra simplex, commonly known as the Bubble Coral, is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral from the family Euphyllidae. This XXL specimen features large, translucent vesicles that gently pulse in the aquarium current, adding dynamic movement and texture to your reef display.

Lighting: Moderate lighting is ideal for Plerogyra simplex. Too intense lighting may cause bleaching, while insufficient light can reduce polyp expansion. LED or T5 lighting systems with adjustable intensity are recommended.

Water Flow: Gentle to moderate water flow is best to keep the bubbles inflated and healthy without causing tissue damage. Avoid strong direct currents that can stress the coral.

Placement: Place this coral on a stable rockwork base with ample space around it to prevent aggression or stinging from neighbouring corals. It is best positioned in the mid to lower sections of the tank where lighting and flow conditions are optimal.

Care Level: Suitable for intermediate to advanced hobbyists due to its specific lighting and flow needs.

Diet: While primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae, Plerogyra simplex benefits from occasional feeding of small meaty foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, or specialised coral foods to promote growth and vibrancy.

Reef Compatibility: Yes, with adequate spacing. This coral can extend sweeper tentacles at night, so ensure neighbouring corals are placed at a safe distance.
