Euphyllia ancora (Orange-Yellow) is a large polyp stony (LPS) coral prized for its vivid orange-yellow tentacles and distinctive hammer-shaped polyps. This coral adds dynamic movement and bright colour to mature reef aquariums.
Lighting: Moderate to high lighting is recommended to maintain vibrant colouration and healthy growth. LED or T5 lighting systems that provide a balanced spectrum work well.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal to gently sway the tentacles without causing tissue damage. Avoid strong direct currents.
Placement: Position this coral in the middle to lower regions of the tank where it can expand fully without touching neighbouring corals. Adequate spacing is essential to prevent aggression and stinging.
Care Level: Moderate care level; suitable for aquarists with some experience in maintaining LPS corals.
Diet: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae but benefits from occasional feeding of meaty foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, or specialised coral foods.
Compatibility: Reef safe with adequate spacing from other corals to avoid aggressive interactions. Not recommended for tanks with highly aggressive coral species.
Additional Notes: Maintain stable water parameters with calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium levels within recommended ranges for stony corals. Regular monitoring and water changes will support optimal health.
