Pocillopora damicornis (Yellow-Green) is a striking small-sized SPS coral known for its bright yellow-green hues and intricate branching structure. This coral is a popular choice among marine aquarists who appreciate its vibrant colour and moderate care needs.
Lighting Requirements: Moderate to high lighting is recommended to maintain optimal colour and growth. LED or T5 lighting systems that provide a spectrum suitable for SPS corals are ideal.
Water Flow: Moderate to strong water flow helps prevent detritus accumulation and supports healthy polyp extension. Avoid direct blasting flow which may cause tissue damage.
Placement: Position this coral in the upper to middle areas of the tank where it can receive adequate light and water movement. Ensure sufficient spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggression and allow for growth.
Care Level: Suitable for intermediate to advanced hobbyists due to its specific lighting and flow needs.
Compatibility and Reef Safety: Pocillopora damicornis is reef safe with adequate spacing from other corals to avoid stinging or overgrowth. It coexists well with most reef inhabitants.
Additional Notes: Regular water parameter monitoring and stable conditions are essential for maintaining vibrant colouration and healthy growth. Feeding is generally not required but may benefit from occasional coral foods or amino acid supplements.
