The Chaetodontoplus conspicillatus, commonly known as the Conspicuous Angelfish, is a captivating species prized for its vivid colouration and distinctive markings. This listing offers a pair of large specimens, ideal for marine aquarists with experience in maintaining angelfish.
Temperament and Compatibility: This species is semi-aggressive and best kept with other robust fish of similar size. Avoid housing with very small or timid species. They can be territorial, especially in smaller tanks, so providing ample space and hiding spots is essential.
Diet: Omnivorous by nature, Chaetodontoplus conspicillatus thrives on a varied diet including high-quality marine angelfish pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, spirulina, and marine algae. Supplementing with sponge-based foods is beneficial to mimic natural feeding habits.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 250 litres is recommended to accommodate their active swimming and territorial behaviour. The aquarium should be mature, well-filtered, and stable in water parameters.
Water Conditions: Maintain temperature between 24-27°C, pH 8.1-8.4, and salinity at 1.023-1.025 SG. Moderate water flow and good oxygenation are important for their health.
Placement: Provide plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter. Position them in the middle to upper levels of the tank where they can explore and display their vibrant colours.
Reef Compatibility: With Caution. While not strictly reef safe, they may be kept in reef tanks without large sessile invertebrates or delicate corals that could be nipped.
Origin: Not Provided.
Maximum Size: Up to 25 cm (10 inches).
