Entacmaea quadricolor, commonly known as the Orange Tip anemone, is a visually stunning and popular species among marine aquarium enthusiasts. This small variant is perfect for hobbyists with established reef tanks looking to add vibrant colour and dynamic movement.
Care Level: Moderate to advanced. This species requires stable water parameters and moderate lighting to thrive.
Feeding: While capable of deriving nutrition through photosynthesis via its symbiotic zooxanthellae, regular supplemental feeding with meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or finely chopped seafood is recommended to promote growth and health.
Compatibility: Generally reef safe, but caution is advised as it may sting nearby corals or invertebrates if placed too close. It can host certain clownfish species, enhancing the natural reef environment.
Placement & Environment: Requires moderate to strong lighting and moderate water flow. Placement should be on a stable rock or substrate where it can attach securely. Avoid areas with excessive current that may damage its delicate tentacles.
Tank Size: A minimum of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended to provide adequate space and water quality stability.
Additional Notes: This anemone can move within the aquarium, so ensure it is placed away from corals or equipment it might harm or be harmed by. Regular water quality monitoring and stable parameters are essential for long-term success.
