The Amphiprion akallopisos, or Skunk Clownfish, is a charming and hardy species native to the Indian Ocean. This small, tank-bred specimen is ideal for marine aquarium enthusiasts seeking a peaceful and visually striking addition to their reef setup.
Temperament and Compatibility: Generally peaceful, the Skunk Clownfish coexists well with other non-aggressive fish and invertebrates. It is suitable for community reef tanks but may show territorial behaviour towards conspecifics or similar clownfish species.
Diet: Omnivorous by nature, it thrives on a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding 1-2 times daily is recommended.
Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 75 litres (20 gallons) is advised to provide ample swimming space and territory. Stable water parameters with temperatures between 24-27°C, salinity of 1.020-1.025 SG, and pH 8.1-8.4 are optimal.
Reef Compatibility: This species is reef safe and can be kept with corals and other invertebrates without risk of predation.
Additional Care: Providing a host anemone such as Heteractis magnifica or Stichodactyla mertensii is beneficial but not essential, as Amphiprion akallopisos can adapt to living without one in captivity.
